All-New BMW M3 Looks And Sounds Like The Sports Sedan Of Your Dreams

The sixth generation M3 will be uncovered probably at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September. In the meantime, the German car firm continues testing the sports sedan in different environments, including the (in)famous Nurburgring, where it was recently captured on film.

Still dressed in camouflage, like the previous prototypes caught on camera by our spy photographers, the 2020 M3 will get the usual beefed up body kit compared to the regular 3-Series. Additionally, it might get a very large grille, though the camo doesn’t allow us to confirm it just yet.

Sportier looks aside, the Mercedes-AMG C63 challenger will get some significant upgrades, like the M xDrive all-wheel drive system. This will transform its handling and grip, making it more suitable for bad-weather driving as well – and will, of course, make it the first-ever AWD M3.

There are, however, reports of a more exciting rear-wheel drive variant that could be named ‘Pure’, which is also thought to use a six-speed manual transmission. Guess BMW knows what its customers like, and will pull a Porsche GT3 trick, satisfying both the masses, who opt for the DCT, as well as the purists, who wouldn’t have anything but a stick shift.

In any case, the new M3 will (like the M5 and M8) be launched in two versions, normal and Competition, with the 3.0-liter twin-turbo straight-six reportedly pumping out 480 PS (473 hp / 335 kW) and 510 PS (503 hp / 375 kW) respectively.
