Maharana Pratap Jayanti was celebrated under the joint aegis of Kshatriya Gramin Rajput Samaj Sangathan and Rajput Karni Sena in the State capital on Thursday.
People of Bhopal, especially Rajputs, honour Maharana Pratap. The chronicle of the great king began when Akbar, the Mughal Emperor invaded the dynasty of Maharana Pratap’s father.
Later, when Maharana Pratap himself became king, he refused to form an alliance with Akbar numerous times. Although the king hadn’t completely conquered the Mughals, he did defeat them once in the battle of Haldighati, in spite of being outnumbered two to one.
He did so by using terrain tactics that was intended to kill the opposing general. Extensive, special pujas were performed on Maharana Pratap Jayanti in his remembrance.
There were several cultural events and debates that also took place on this special day. Many people also visited his memorial statue. Furthermore, there were vibrant parades and religious rites that took place to honour the king’s legacy.
