Police excavate Brisbane site after US woman's disappearance
Queensland detectives are excavating a Bracken Ridge site in Brisbane's north after suspecting foul play in the disappearance of Priscilla Brooten.
The 46-year-old US citizen lived in Redcliffe and Bracken Ridge for the past six years and was last seen in July last year in Bracken Ridge.
Police said family and friends have had no contact from Ms Brooten and have significant concern for her safety.
Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Hogan said Ms Brooten's disappearance was now being treated as a homicide investigation.
"We have a number of inquiries and today the focus will be on the search and excavation at a residence in Bracken Ridge," he said.
“We share the fear of Ms Brooten’s family and friends and have reason to believe she may have met with foul play."
Police were also appealing for anyone with information about a car that Ms Brooten was driving for about one year before she vanished.
It was found abandoned in Bunton Street at Scarborough about 9pm on July 6 last year.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have seen the car being left in the street that night or may have noticed anything suspicious in the area that night to come forward," Sergeant Hogan said.
"Regardless of how trivial you think the information might be, it may be crucial to our investigation."
