A three-year-old boy suffered injuries after a speeding car hit him in front of his parents in Anna Nagar on Wednesday. The police said that Gowtham is the son of a pavement dweller Mani.

When the family was crossing the road at 4.30 pm, a car hit the child. Gowtham was thrown away in the impact and sustained severe head injuries. He was rushed to the ICH in Egmore. The driver and two women who were in the car were detained and the car was seized. The driver was booked and later released on bail.
