Cops recover cartons of liquor at DSP Om Prakash Chandolia’s
JAIPUR/KOTA: A deputy superintended of police (DSP) in Bundi district was arrested for taking a bribe of Rs 24,000 from a wine shop owner on Thursday morning.
Ironically, Om Prakash Chandolia presided over four police stations as circle officer, including Lakheri police station which was selected as one of the 10 best police stations by the union ministry of home affairs after an intensive survey last year.

ACB sleuths also recovered several carton of beer and Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IFML) from Chandolia’s office-cum-residence. According to additional SP, ACB Zone Kota, Chandrasheel Thakur, Chandolia was demanding the bribe from a local wine shop owner in the form of a monthly kickbacks to allow owner to run the shop freely without any problems from the local police.
“Chandolia demanded a monthly bribe of Rs 15,000 and threatened that if amount was not paid, the police will file a case against the liquor shop,” Thakur said, adding that after much cajoling and negotiations, Chandolia settled from Rs 10,000.
The licensed owner of liquor shop had told ACB that his business had slumped and he couldn’t cough up exorbitant amounts of money to the accused. “Chandolia was paid Rs 3,000 as monthly bribe as safety against any police crackdown. But a few days, ago Chandolia raised the amount and threatened the shop owner that he would file an FIR against the complainant and use every tactic to shut-down the shop. Finally, on Tuesday the complainant approached the ACB.
“During the verification of the complaint, the accused had taken a bribe of Rs 6,000 and asked the complainant to come with the remaining money on Thursday,” ASP Thakur told TOI.

The sleuths were taken aback when they found a board hanging outside his office requesting visitors to not to offer money to the government officials. Also, the incident has come as a major jolt for the department as Chandolia supervised the much feted Lakheri police station, long lionised for efficient crime control, community policing, record keeping and investigations that had won it a seventh spot in the list of the country’s best police stations.
The ACB units conducted raids at DSP’s Jaipur located house on Thursday. The sleuths recovered documents of four shops in Jaipur, four in Phagi and some cash.
