Took ₹15.5 lakh, promising govt. job

The police have arrested three persons, including a schoolteacher, for cheating a job seeker to the tune of ₹15.5 lakh for securing a government job. G. Ezhilarasan, 28, a native of Parthapalayam village in Gudiyatham taluk, was approached by Kamalakannan, who was working as a drawing teacher in a government school, by saying that he had influence at the Secretariat to secure him a job. Kamalakannan, along with his friends Rakeshkhanna and Subash Chandra Bose, took cash amounting to ₹15.50 lakh in small installments from Ezhilarasan.

In 2017, Kamalakannan arranged to fake a government appointment order in the name of the victim. Ezhilarasan was asked to approach the office of the Director of Information and Public Relations in Chennai for attending a formal interview for the post of Assistant Public Relations Officer.

When the victim reached Chennai, he came to know that the order was fake. Meanwhile, Kamalakannan returned up to ₹2.50 lakh to Ezhilarasan, after which he started evading him.

Irked by the evasive reply, Ezhilarasan filed a complaint with the Ambur Taluk police.
