Gurgaon:
Residents of
NBCC Green View are worried that
rain could wreck havoc in their area as the only two
roads connecting the society to the main road are in a dilapidated state.
Green View has two routes — a 60m-wide master road and a 7ft-wide approach road (Garhi road) — to the main road. A 300-350ft patch of the master road, right outside the society, has not been properly laid.
According to residents, the concrete work has been stuck in a limbo over bureaucratic hurdles. On the other hand, the Garhi road has been blocked by MCG for construction of rainwater drainage.
With monsoon just a couple of weeks away, residents are now thinking of staging a protest to demand opening of the Garhi road and completion of unfinished work on the master road. Residents claimed to have been knocking on the doors of various departments and even lodging a complaint on the CM’s window, but nothing has yielded results.
The muddy stretch of the master road poses a risk for commuters.
Residents said that vehicles often got stuck and sometimes toppled over on the road.
“We’ve been trying to get this road carpeted for over a year now but nothing has been done yet. To add insult to injury, the Garhi road that connects our society to Basai road has been blocked. Though this road is not the best, it was a lot better than this ‘so-called’ master road. We keep hearing instances of auto rickshaws or e-rickshaws toppling over on the master road. Last week, an e-rickshaw toppled over and passengers, mostly women, were injured in the accident,” said Deepak Jain, a resident.
Apart from these routes, residents can cross the railway line and take the Dwarka Expressway. But residents said that the road was full of potholes and didn’t have streetlights.
When asked about the master road, GMDA officials said the concretisation work would be done after the land acquisition office handed over the land through which the road passes to the authority.
“There is some dispute over the land. Unless, we officially get clearance to work on the land, we can’t do anything,” said chief engineer Jitender Mittal.
Land acquisition officer Satish Yadav couldn’t be reached by TOI for a comment, despite repeated attempts.
