Inmates attack undertrial in central jail

Rajkot: An undertrial prisoner’s hand was dislocated from his shoulder when he was beaten up by five inmates of Rajkot Central Jail on Thursday afternoon.

Police said the accused, identified as Sanjay, Akash, Jaidev, Hiren and an unidentified aide, attacked Ishan Joshi when he objected to Sanjay’s abusive language inside the barrack. Joshi was imprisoned in a firing case in which he had fired two rounds at his friends in a birthday party on road that had turned violent in Pushkardham on University Road in Rajkot, two months ago.
“We have booked the accused for causing serious injuries to the victim, who has been admitted to the prison ward of Rajkot Civil Hospital,” said an official from Pradyumannagar police station.
