Just days after Woolworths launched its new orange and chocolate flavoured mud cake, Coles has fired back with a range of colourful 'fantasy' cupcakes for just $1 each.
The Australian supermarket chain well-known for its affordable range of cakes which include bestsellers: a white mud cake and a chocolate mud cake, priced at $4.80.
Fantasy Cupcakes are Coles' latest addition to its bakery range - and the supermarket is selling these as a set of four for $4.
The vanilla sponge cakes feature blue and pink swirled icing and are described as being the perfect addition to a high tea, christening or even a wedding reception.

Coles has confirmed the cupcakes will go on sale Monday 15 June and will be available at all outlets across Australia.
In keeping with the supermarket's commitment to providing quality baking at affordable prices, the cupcakes have been made without artificial colours or flavouring.
'Our bakery continues to surprise and delight and we're so proud of the team in terms of their innovation,' a spokesperson from Coles said.

The latest offering by Coles is set to rival Woolworths limited edition chocolate orange mud cake which went on sale this week.
Woolworths' cake launched on Monday, June 3, for $4 and will available 'while stocks last'.
After a week on the shelves they will go back to their regular price of $4.80.

Like all mud cakes developed by the grocer, there are no artificial colours and flavours included in the orange variety.
'We know how much our customers love our Woolworths mud cakes and we're excited to continue to deliver delicious new flavours,' Woolworths Bakery Manager Andy Thomas said.
'If the success of our previous Limited Edition Mint Chocolate mud cake is anything to go by, we know this will fly off shelves, so get in quick.'
