A 46-year-old man from Saravanampatti ended life after killing his son, allegedly suspecting the conduct of his wife.
The police said that a tailor hailing from Sivanandapuram and his son aged 13 were found dead at their house late on Wednesday.
According to the police, the man had suspicion over the conduct of his wife. He had also warned her to quit an alleged relationship she was into.
The man took the extreme step on Wednesday afternoon when his wife had gone out. The police said that the man initially gave poisonous substance to his son and later consumed the remaining portion.
Since the consumption of the poisonous substance did not yield any result, the man allegedly hanged his son and himself.
The woman, who had gone out found her husband and son hanging when she returned home in the evening. She later informed the Saravanampatti police about the deaths.
The police, who conducted inquest of the bodies, recovered a note which was allegedly left behind by the man. The note said that he took the extreme step annoyed over his wife’s conduct.
The bodies were shifted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital where it was autopsied on Thursday.
