MUMBAI: The family of a 65-year-old woman saved the lives of two end-stage organ failure patients by donating her kidneys and liver. The city this year has recorded 41 cadaver donations, facilitating more than 100 life-saving transplants.
The resident of
Dadar was admitted to Global Hospital (Parel) with intracranial bleed and a fall at her residence on June 2. Despite treatment, her condition did not improve, said hospital sources. She was declared brain dead on Wednesday, after which the family was approached for a donation.
"As the donor was a widow with no children, her nephew gave us the consent," said the hospital's transplant coordinator.
