The Red Line may have punched us all in the feels, but it won't be given the opportunity to do so again.

Deadline reports that CBS has canceled its racial drama from Ava DuVernay and Greg Berlanti after one season, but that's not exactly a shocking decision. The show was actually billed as a limited series -- a series with a set episode order that has no plans to continue on after those episodes come to an end -- meaning this is less of a cancellation and more of a fulfillment of the predetermined conclusion of the show.

This series delved into the complicated dynamics involved in a racially fueled police shooting of an unarmed black man and the far-reaching consequences that followed. The Red Line didn't just focus on one side of the narrative, however. It took time to tell the story of Paul Evans (Noel Fisher), the police officer who shot Harrison Brennan (Corey Reynolds), Harrison's husband and adopted daughter Daniel (Noah Wyle) and Jira (Aliyah Royale), and even city council candidate Tia Young (Emayatzy Corinealdi).
