PATNA: The Janta Dal (United), which is a crucial ally of BJP in Bihar, on Friday defended it's vice president Prashant Kishor’s move to sign a pact with TMC chief
Mamata Banerjee, a rival of the saffron party, for the West Bengal assembly polls slated to be held in 2021.
Party’s national secretary general and spokesperson K C Tyagi said like people of any political party can take services of BSNL phone, any party is free to take the service of Kishor’s company- the Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC).
“There is no need of making any clamour over this issue because neither JD(U) nor Kishor himself was going to campaign in favour of Mamata Banerjee or her party in West Bengal. It is Kishor’s company- the I-PAC which will work for the TMC or Mamata Banerjee. I do not understand why people are making hue and cry,” Tyagi told TOI over the phone from Delhi.
Tyagi also said that almost all leading political parties in the country have doctors as office-bearers. “Do the doctor office-bearers not do treatment of members or followers of the other political parties?” he asked.
Tyagi further pointed out that Kishor’s company worked for the BJP in 2014 general election and Bihar’s grand alliance in 2015 assembly polls. In 2016, his company worked for the Congress in Uttar Pradesh. “Why the people who are today making hue and cry, were silent when his company worked for the BJP in the 2014 general election?” Tyagi asked. He said Kishor’s company is run by several professionals and the professionals should be kept out of the politics.
To a question, Tyagi admitted that Kishor had met JD(U) president
Nitish Kumar several times during the latter’s recent three-day stay in Delhi at the time of oath-taking of
Narendra Modi government for the second term. “Kishor was seen sitting with our president for hours during his recent Delhi stay. But I am not aware whether he discussed the matter related to his company taking up assignment of TMC with Nitish Kumar,” Tyagi said.
He also pointed out that Kishor’s company worked for Jagan Mohan Reddy’s recent sweep in Andhra Pradesh elections after his joining the JD(U) last year. “Even then, no one raised a question over his professional role. Then, why there is a question when he has taken up the assignment of the TMC,” Tyagi asked.
