Earlier this year, there was a case filed against Vemal, director Sargunam and producer Singaravelan of Marina Pictures, by the distribution company — Dhanalakshmi Pictures. This led to the movie’s release being stayed by the court. However, Sargunam washed his hands off the issue saying he had nothing to do with the issue between Singaravelan and Dhanalakshmi Pictures. Recently, it was revealed that Vemal had stepped in to resolve the dispute and that is how everything smoothed out. Kalavani 2 is the sequel to the 2010 blockbuster Kalavani, which is popular among the audience for its comedy sequences.
