Pimpri: Nationalist Congress Party President Sharad Pawar has advised the party leaders and workers to choose new faces for Pimpri, Chinchwad and Bhosari assembly constituencies in the city. Pawar has also asked the party workers to start contacting every individual and household in their assembly constituencies prior to the forthcoming State polls.
Pawar addressed the party workers in Bhosari on Thursday for the first time after the party faced a debacle in the recent Lok Sabha polls. The meeting was organised to review the party’s poll performance and to motivate party workers to work for the ensuing State polls. Pawar has expressed the confidence that the results of the State polls will be different from the Lok Sabha polls.
Earlier, former MLA Vilas Lande had announced that he was not interested in contesting the assembly polls from Bhosari.
The NCP supremo also expressed his annoyance over Prime Minister Narendra Modi adorning saffron clothes and camping for a day in a cave when the nation was going through polls. “What kinds of role models are being placed before the new generation? he questioned. He expressed his resentment that votes were sought in the name of a religion when the country comprised of people of various communities. He asked the party workers to create an awareness in this regard.
Party’s Pimpri Chinchwad unit president Sanjog Waghere, former MLA Anna Bansode and Leader of the Opposition in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Datta Sane were also present.
