Man held for harassing girls on social media

AHMEDABAD: A man was nabbed from Nikol on Thursday by city cyber cell for harassing girls on social media. Apparently, Sunilsingh Rajput, 30, of Nikol, hailing from Bhind in MP, used to call on random numbers and if the person on the other side happened to be a female, he used to search out their profiles on social media, check their display pictures before targeting, and then harass them by sending lewd messages. Rajput, who is married, also used to pass on the numbers to his friends for further harassment of his victims.
ACP, cyber cell, Jeetandra Yadav said police have found at least 20 phone numbers of his victims saved on his cellphone. Yadav said they had received a complaint from a girl that she has been receiving lewd messages, voice messages, and video calls from several numbers.
“The girl gave us the first number from which she started receiving the calls. We found the IP address and nabbed Rajput from his house in Nikol on Thursday,” Yadav said. ACP Yadav said Rajput has studied up to class 11, and has been apprehended earlier for similar offences.
