State Police Chief Loknath Behera on Thursday felicitated a young girl who overcame a severe handicap — she was born without both arms — to score A+ in all subjects in the SSLC examination.

C.P. Devika, daughter of Senior Civil Police Officer C.P. Sajeevan of the Tenhipalam police station and M. Sujitha, owed her success to her determination and mental strength, Mr. Behera said. A student of CBHSS, Vallikunnu, Malappuram, Devika did not, however, employ a scribe for writing her exams. She wrote with her feet.

Mr. Behera presented her with a citation and cash award. Her parents, brother C.P. Gautham, and senior police officers were present.
