‘He has failed to keep his promise to ensure a complete farm loan waiver’

Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha and Hasiru Sene have threatened to show black flag to the Chief Minister during the scheduled Gram Vastavya of H.D. Kumaraswamy in Gurmitkal on June 21. Releasing a press note here on Wednesday, Subhash Ikur, State convenor of the organisation, said that the organisation of farmers would show black flag to Mr. Kumaraswamy as he has failed to keep his promises with regard to ensuring a complete farm loan waiver.

“He (Mr. Kumaraswamy) promised to waive farm loan completely. But what has happened to that promise after he came to power? No farmer’s loan has been completely waived so far. His promise remained unrealistic due to lack of his interest in solving the agrarian crisis. Thus, he should first fulfil the demand of farmers and then hold Gram Vastvaya to improve people’s lives in rural areas,” he said.

Mr. Ikur pointed out that farmers in the State, particularly in Hyderabad Karnataka, have been suffering crop losses for the last several years owing to severe drought. However, they have not been given compensation against crop losses. Under such circumstances, Mr. Kumaraswamy should direct officials to solve these problems immediately and then come to a stay in villages as he desired. If he comes without solving these problems, farmers would oppose him by showing black flag, he said.
