LUCKNOW: Six persons were killed and 24 others got seriously injured when a tractor trolley in which they were travelling in was hit by a speeding truck in Hardoi on Thursday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Rajju (40), Shankar (60), Vikram (45), Ram Gopal (50), Balakram(60) and Rishi (60), all natives of Bagholi village in Bilgram police station area. The injured are recuperating at the district hospital.
According to police, around 30 people had boarded a tractor to attend a marriage function of Ram Prakash Pal of Bharatpurva village in Bilgram police area.
As soon as the tractor reached Bilhaur highway a truck coming from opposite direction hit the tractor.
Hardoi SP, Alok Priyadarshi told TOI, that the local villagers informed police about the mishap while truck driver fled away. Efforts are on to nab him.
