AGRA: Four boys including two siblings were feared drowned while swimming in
Yamuna river on Thursday.
The incident took place at around noon near
Ghyara Sidi of Itmad-ud-daula. Police have recovered one of the bodies, while UP Provincial Armed Constabulary scuba divers were still searching for the remaining victims.
The boys were identified as Sajjid Ali (14), Adil (12), Kunal (13) and Chetan alias Laddo (10). All the victims hailed from Nagla Devjeet. According to police, Kunal’s younger brother Chetan’s body was recovered but rest three were still missing.
Station house officer of Itmad-ud-daula, Udayveer Singh Malik said, “A team of 12 divers are searching for the three victims. The four boys had went there for swimming, but were apparently carried away by strong currents."
Local sources claimed that in order to rescue Chetan who was been pulled into the bottom of the river by water current, the three boys attempted to chase and pulled him back from the water, but unfortunately they too drowned.
