From collaborative robots that load raw material to compressors with increased efficiency, there was an array of cutting-edge equipment at the 18th edition of Intec, the machine tools and industrial trade fair at Codissia Trade Fair Complex in the city. Technology for automation, precision tools and industry 4.0 were the focus in several stalls.
Several firms had exhibited latest automation technologies. One was a robot, which loads and unloads components for processing in machines made by Bharat Fritz Werner. It would eliminate even the minimum human effort now involved in machining, said a representative from the firm. “It is a collaborative robot. Usually, robots are cordoned off on shop floors. But workers can safely collaboratively work with this robot, as it would pause when it comes with human contact,” he said.
Elgi Equipments had showcased direct drive compressors with an increased efficiency.
Italy-based Speroni, which deals with precision tools, had exhibited its latest equipment, a ‘smart tool presetter’. Representatives of the firm said the equipment helps to remove discrepancies in machining tools and also digitally collect information. “The equipment has a computer system, which collects data of tools, such as wear and tear. In the industry 4.0 perspective, this data would help in increasing efficiency and productivity,” he said.
About 570 firms from 12 countries and 15 Indian states had exhibited their products. Codissia representatives said they expected a business of Rs 800crore during and after the fair. TNN
