Patient jumps off hospital building

Ludhiana: A 28-year-old man tried to commit suicide by jumping off the third floor of Christian Medical College and Hospital on Wednesday.
Rubble, a resident of Basti Jodhewal, suffered serious multiple injuries after he fell on a car in the parking lot.
Rubble was brought to the hospital on June 3. “The patient was admitted to the intensive care unit as he had consumed a mosquito repellent. At the time of admission, he was under the influence of alcohol. A hard drinker, he was undergoing treatment for aspiration pneumonia. He was extubated at 9.30am on June 5. Suddenly, he became agitated, pulled out his N-G tube and jumped off the third floor of ICU after breaking a glass window around 10am. He has suffered several injuries. His condition is stated to be critical but stable,” said the hospital administration.
Division 3 assistant sub-inspector Sanjeev Kumar said, “We are yet to ascertain the reason behind his taking the extreme step. His statement will be recorded after he is fit to give it. The case is being investigated.”

Rajinder Sharma, an eyewitness, said, “Panic gripped the hospital after the incident. Patients and their attendants rushed to the spot. The hospital authorities immediately took Rubble under treatment.”
Rubble’s family refused to comment on the matter.
