Students of Andhra Pradesh fared well in the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET), the results of which were declared by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on Wednesday.
The State recorded a pass percentage of 70.72, the highest among the southern States.
Students who qualified in the NEET are eligible for admission into MBBS and BDS courses.
However, the pass percentage last year was marginally higher at 72.55. In A.P., a total of 57,798 students registered themselves for the test. Of them, 55,200 appeared for it. A total of 39,039 candidates qualified.
Qureshi Asra tops
Qureshi Asra of the State secured the 16th rank. She obtained 690 marks.
In the neighbouring Telangana, of the 48,996 students who appeared for the test, only 33,044 passed, recording a pass percentage of 67.44 against last year’s 68.88.
G. Madhavi Reddy of Telangana brought laurels to the State by securing 7th rank, scoring 695 marks.
Kerala registered a pass percentage of 66.59, slightly lower than last year’s 66.74. Of the 1,10,206 students who wrote the test, only 73,385 qualified.
In Karnataka, out of 1,02,735 students who attempted, 64,982 cleared, registering a pass percentage of 63.25. In Tamil Nadu, out of 1,23,078 students who appeared only 59,785 qualified, recording a pass percentage of 48.57, which was better than last year’s 39.56.
