More volume for Coonoor tea auctions

The falling trend witnessed in the last few weeks in the volume offered for auctions at the Coonoor Tea Trade Association stands reversed this week, with the offer for Sale No: 23, scheduled for Thursday and Friday, rising to 13.46 lakh kg. This is around 47,000 kg more than last week’s offer, but it is still among the lowest volumes of the past many months. As much as 12.24 lakh kg on offer belongs to CTC variety and only 1.22 lakh kg, orthodox variety. Quotations indicated ₹82-87 a kg for plain leaf grades and ₹122-135 for the best grades. For plain Dust grades, they ranged between ₹83-87 and for the best grades, they were ₹120-132.
