AMBALA: Two cousin brothers of
Patiala district of Punjab were killed in a road accident after a college bus rammed into their motorcycle near
Loton Chungi Chowk on
Naraingarh-Kala Ambala Road in Haryana on Thursday evening, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Gurmeet Singh, 25, and Gurdeep Singh, 22, of Kapuri village in Patiala district.
In his complaint to the police, victims' cousin brother Gurpreet Singh stated he, along with three persons, was going to
Sri Hemkunt Sahib Gurdwara in Uttarakhand on two separate bikes.
“When we reached near Loton Chungi, a speeding college bus rammed into Gurdeep’s bike and both the occupants got injured. They were rushed to a government hospital in Naraingarh where the doctors declared them brought dead,” the victims' brother added.
He further said that the driver of the bus fled the spot after locals gathered at the accident site leaving his bus behind.
SHO Naraingarh Arvind Kumar said the driver of the bus has been identified and efforts are on to arrest him.
A case has been registered under IPC sections 279 (rash driving), 304-A (causing death by negligence) and 427 (whoever commits mischief and therefore cause loss or damage) against the driver of the bus, Kuldeep Singh, of Khairi village of Sirmaur district.
