Swartarang Academy makes foundation day memorable

Students of Swartarang Academy performed group songs at Deshpande hall on Tuesday
Nagpur: Talented singers made the 11th foundation day of Swartarang Music Academy a memorable event by presenting popular Hindi and Marathi songs at Vasantrao Deshpande Hall on Tuesday.
The programme, ‘Ek Sham Suron Ke Naam’, had the audience in thrall as veteran and young singers gave their best, presenting songs from different eras of music.
Starting with ‘Deva shri Ganesha’, students of the academy went on to present many hit songs.
Arjun Kulkarni sang ‘Ashi pakhare yeti’ while Watkar presented ‘Dil ki tapish aaj hai.’ This was followed by ‘Mose chhal kiye jaye’ by Parvathi Nair, ‘Rutu hirwa’ by Shruti Pandavkar, ‘Tu is tarah se meri’ by Nandu Andhare, ‘Dil chiz kya hai’ by Aishwarya Nagrajan, ‘Mere sapno ki rani’ by Anil Gulhane, ‘Manachya dhundit laharit yena’ by Arya Rajurkar and ‘Laga chunri mein daag’ by Naman Gharpure.
One of the highlights of the event was group performances. While one group sang ‘Dum dum diga diga’ and ‘Ab ke sawan mein’, the other one rendered songs from different states.
The accompanying artistes were Mahendra Dhole, Parimal Joshi, Gaurav Tanksake, Pankaj Yadav, Deepak Kamble and Subhash Wankhede.
Famous actor and mimic Rajesh Chitnis and his troupe did a small promotional act of their upcoming Marathi film Jai Bola Priya Patnicha.
Earlier, the programme started with noted homeopath Vilas Dangre lighting a traditional lamp. Dr Dangre praised the academy for promoting music, especially among younger ones.

Niranjan Bobde, founder of the academy, said, talented singers are groomed and a platform is made available to them to showcase what they learnt.
