Duchess Meghan 'was nasty to me, and that’s OK': Trump

While US President Donald Trump is in the UK for D-Day commemorations, it's his comments about the Duchess of Sussex that has royal watchers a-twitter.

Trump accused the media of misinterpreting his earlier remarks about Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, in an interview with ITV's Piers Morgan broadcast in the UK on Wednesday.

In an interview with the Sun tabloid, Trump had referred to comments the American-born duchess had made about him before she became part of the British royal family as "nasty".

During the 2016 election campaign, the duchess - then Meghan Markle - called Trump "misogynistic" and "divisive". The American actress also said she might move to Canada if Trump was elected president. Two years later, she married Prince Harry.

Suggesting that he had been unaware of Markle's 2016 remarks ahead of preparations for his upcoming state visit to Britain and his royal reception on Monday, Trump said in an audio recording released by the Sun," I didn't know that she was nasty," in response to a question that cited Markle's earlier remarks.

Ikea is planning to launch a robotic furniture line capable of shifting around to make living in a confined space less of a chore.

Modelled on the Swedish flat pack giant's existing Platsa range, the Rognan units will, at the flick of a switch, convert from a storage and seating unit unit into a bed and a wardrobe.

Ikea plans to start selling the range in Hong Kong and Japan from 2020. The Australian launch date has yet to be made public.

One crowded (lunch) hour: Should we expand or remove our free tram zone?

A public transport expert says Melbourne’s free tram zone creates overcrowding and robs the system of revenue.

But a Victorian MP wants to expand the zone to include the MCG, the Shrine of Remembrance, Melbourne Zoo and the Royal Children’s Hospital in a bid to “change the way people choose to get around this great city of ours”.

Do you use the free trams? Do you leap up the stairs and squash yourself into a packed tram to make the most of your lunch break or do you curse (under your breath, of course) and wait for the next one?

Would you like to see the free tram zone extended, or dropped altogether?

Good morning!

Good morning!

It's cold and dark out, but it's not too bad for an early winter's morning: it's 11 degrees in the city on the way to a cloudy 15 degrees. There's a high chance of light showers or drizzle about in the southeast and outer eastern suburbs, and a medium chance elsewhere. Throw your brolly in your bag just in case.

Metro Trains is reporting a "good service" on all lines bar the Sandringham line, which is in the final days of the Metro Tunnel project works. Buses replace trains until Sunday. Hang in there.

The roads are looking mostly clear too. Good time to get up and out of the house.
