Gadkari, Fadnavis push for more quota in trains

Nagpur: The Railway Board on Thursday has asked principal chief commercial managers (PCCMs) of 12 zones across the country to explore enhancing reservation quota in 42 trains passing through Nagpur.
The Railway Board move comes following highways and transport minister Nitin Gadkari writing to railway minister Piyush Goyal on December 14, 2018, to enhance quota in trains passing via Nagpur towards north, east, south, and west directions.
After Gadkari, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis also wrote to Goyal on May 6, demanding enhanced quota as Nagpur is centrally located and sees rush of passengers moving towards states like Bihar, West Bengal, Rajasthan, and Karnataka.

The demand includes enhancing quota by 10 berths for AC II tier, one full coach for AC III, and one sleeper coach in all 42 trains.
Based on the demand from two BJP heavyweights, the Railway Board has asked all PCCMs to review quota of at least 42 trains passing through Nagpur. As the commercial officials did not act on these requests early, now Railway Board executive director (passenger marketing) Neeraj Sharma has sought an action taken report by June 12, 2019.
