Vadodara: A local court on Wednesday granted two-day custody of chief executive authority of Vadodara Urban Development Authority (VUDA) and a junior town planner to anti-corruption bureau (ACB) till June 7. The remand was granted on the grounds that the agency needed to look into the role of other officials of VUDA in the case.
ACB officials told the court that the accused duo — N C Shah and S R Patel are class I and class II officers and since they are aware of investigation procedures, they were not cooperating with probe. “On hearing the recording of conversation between the complainant and Patel, the latter mentions names like N C Patel, Gavit and Bhadoo,” investigators told court.
Patel is also heard saying, “Radhe has not come yet and in your presence whatever is theirs, we will understand.” ACB officials said that the accused have not revealed anything about these names and who were to be given what, thus their custody is needed for joint interrogation.

ACB also suspects that the two accused were also eyeing money in some other deal. Patel was also heard asking the complainant to finish the deals of Padra and Karodiya together. During negotiations Patel had asked the complainant to give Rs 1.25 lakh and added that he will assure that everyone will be satisfied in that amount.
Even during the trap when the money was handed over to Shah, he told the complainant, “We will divide the money and all will be satisfied with it.” After mentioning these conversations, ACB officials told court that it is necessary to know to whom were they going to give the share of money and who else was involved thus their custody is necessary.
