District in charge Minister and Janata Dal (Secular) leader G.T. Deve Gowda said here on Wednesday that A.H. Vishwanath, who announced his resignation as the party State president, would be persuaded to reconsider his decision.
Speaking to reporters here, Mr. Gowda said notwithstanding the Hunsur MLA’s decision to resign, efforts are on to convince him to withdraw his resignation and continue as president.
Mr. Gowda was all praise for Congress–JD(S) coordination committee chairman Siddaramaiah and appreciated the governance and administration during his tenure as the Chief Minister.
Reacting to MLA Tanveer Sait’s remarks that Mr. Vishwanath was responsible for the defeat of the Congress candidate in Mysuru Lok Sabha constituency, Mr. Gowda said both parties had to share the blame and the differences would be resolved for the smooth functioning of the coalition government.
Earlier in the day, Mr. Sait lashed out at Mr. Vishwanath for his failure to ensure adequate lead for Mysuru Congress candidate C.H. Vijayshankar, in K.R. Nagar and Hunsur. Mr. Sait said this was proof enough that the principles of the coalition were not followed.
