Hero FinCorp is an NBFC that aims to provide world-class financing solutions for the corporate sector, including SMEs and individuals. Hero Fincorp CEO, Abhimanyu Munjal, talks to BW Businessworld’s Prabodh Krishna of the company’s development-focused environment where its 4,986 employees have a clear career trajectory, subject to good performance and other parameters

On its people philosophy
People are a critical asset, and we are trying to bring out the best in every individual by providing an empowered and entrepreneurial work environment. This also helps us in creating a high level of ownership among employees. Personally, I follow the footsteps of my grandfather and founder chairman, B. M. L. Munjal. He believed in creating and nurturing partnerships both internally (with employees) as well as externally, and I feel that these aspects set us apart.

I feel it is critical for employees to see value in their work, along with a clearly defined career path, which is aligned to their aspirations. Most of our employees are millennials and we recognise the need to build a culture that excites them.

On people management and people practices

Many policies make Hero FinCorp one of the best among Indian BFSIs, particularly its Relocation Policies. Hero FinCorp supports the employee movement across cities and understands the hardships one has to go through during relocations. To help employees cope with these difficulties, Hero FinCorp has a well laid out Relocation Policy that covers travel cost (employee and his dependants), transportation expenses, salary revision and settling allowance (a month for those married and 15 days for unmarried employees).

Further support is also extended for transferring goods from one location to another. A leave of four days is provided to the employee to help him or her settle down at the new location. Most importantly, we follow up on his or her well-being and happiness quotient, once the person relocates to the new place.

On what sets Hero FinCorp apart as a company
We attribute our growth to our culture, values, and strong parentage. Our people management practices are very robust. The major points include open and healthy two-way communication between employees and management, meritocracy-based rewards with clear transparent processes, well-defined career paths for every individual, special programmes for top talent to prepare them for future leadership roles. Going forward, we aim to build further on our strengths and take Hero FinCorp to even greater heights.

On the company’s brand equity
We are working hard to make Hero FinCorp one of the most admired companies, and would like to be known as a one-stop financial services provider.  We want to be true to what we set forth. Our tagline is ‘Karo Khwabon Se Ishq’, which literally means ‘Love Your Dreams’ and we want to fulfil the dreams of all our stakeholders (employees, customers, partners, associates, and more). Most importantly, as a Hero Group company we want to be known as a Good Corporate Citizen and a Socially Responsible Lender aiming to build a better India.

For a young company like ours, I feel humbled by these achievements! And I strongly feel that for most employees, Hero FinCorp is like a family that has positively contributed to their growth, success, and happiness.
