P. Raveendranath Kumar pays tribute to Jayalalithaa

P. Raveendranath Kumar, son of Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O. Panneerselvem and the newly elected Member of Parliament from the Theni Lok Sabha constituency on Wednesday, June 5, 2019, paid tributes to former Chief Minsiter Jayalalithaa at her memorial in Chennai.

He was accompanied by his father Mr. Panneerselvam and supporters including Minister R.B. Udayakumar.

It may be recalled that there was speculation that Mr. Raveendranath Kumar and R. Vaithilingam, former State Housing Minister and now a Rajya Sabha member, might be inducted into the Union Ministry. But there was no representation from Tamil Nadu. However, Fisheries Minister and senior AIADMK leader D. Jayakumar said that "the situation might change in the future".

Marketa Vondrousova's amazing French Open run continued on Tuesday when the unseeded Czech teenager beat Croatian Petra Martic 7-6(1) 7-5 to reach the semi-finals.

In Men's third seed Roger Federer subdued some fierce Stan Wawrinka resistance to beat his fellow Swiss 7-6(4) 4-6 7-6(5) 6-4 and reach the French Open semi-finals.

With special prayers and distribution of food to the poor, Muslims across the world and India celebrated Ramzan on Wednesday, June 5, 2019.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday greeted people on Id-ul-Fitr, saying may this day ignite the spirit of harmony.

He posted a signed message greeting people in Urdu and English on his Twitter handle.

"May this special day ignite the spirit of harmony, compassion and peace in our society. May everyone be blessed with happiness", the Prime Minister said

Union Home Minister Amit Shah too extended Eid greetings and hoped the festival would bring peace and happiness for everyone.

“Extend my warm greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. May this festival bring peace, joy and happiness in everyone’s life,” Mr. Shah tweeted.

Severe weather made its way across Minnesota Tuesday afternoon, leading to tornado warnings in some areas in and near the Twin Cities metro area.

The National Weather Service issued tornado warnings for parts of Goodhue County late Tuesday afternoon, KSTP.com reported.
