A 19-year-old Navy sailor has been found dead in his room at Indian Naval Station (INS) Shivaji in Lonavala, Maharashtra. The sailor, identified as Kannala Akash, was pursuing Direct Entry Engineering Mechanics course at the naval station.

Kannala Akash was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his room between 3 and 4 am on Wednesday. An FIR has been filed in the matter. Indian Navy has also ordred an inquiry in the case.

Kannala Akash hailed from Nirmal district in Telangana.
