AGRA: Aligarh police on Wednesday used drone cameras to keep a vigil around Shah Jamal Eid gah, where around 1.50 lakh Muslims gathered to offer namaz (prayers) on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
Aligarh District Magistrate CB Singh said that the step was taken as a precautionary measure to keep a “birds eye view” on the area. He said, “air surveillance was conducted not only to capture activities of people but also to instil fear among mischief mongers by letting them know that they are being watched”.
Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Akash Kulhari said that Eid prayers were conducted in a peaceful atmosphere amid tight security. He said, no untoward incident was reported from any part of the city. He added that apart from two drone cameras, Rapid Action force (RAF), Provisional Armed constabulary (PAC) were deployed along with local police personnel in the city.

Meanwhile, scores of people offered namaz at the historic monument, Taj Mahal in Agra. Entry fee was not charged from visitors for three hours from 7 to 10 am on account of Eid-ul-fitr. The booking offices were also closed during these hours.
