2020 Mercedes GLB Teased, Debuts This Summer

Mercedes used the Shanghai Auto Show to introduce the GLB concept and now the company has released the first teaser image of the production model.

Set to be unveiled this summer, the 2020 GLB is a seven-seat crossover that will slot in between the GLA and GLC. The teaser image isn’t very revealing, but it provides a glimpse of the model’s slender taillights and high-tech interior.

While there isn’t much to see, previous spy photos have shown the GLB will closely echo the concept as it has a rounded front bumper, a two bar grille and squared off headlights. Other highlights include plastic body cladding, a roof rack and a rear end that follows in the footsteps of the GLS.

Performance specifications remain unconfirmed, but engine options should carryover from other vehicles based on the MFA2 platform. As a result, we can expect an assortment of choices including a 2.0-liter four-cylinder diesel with outputs of 148 hp (110 kW / 150 PS) and 187 hp (140 kW / 190 PS). On the petrol side, there should be a 2.0-liter four-cylinder developing 187 hp (140 kW / 190 PS) and 221 hp (165 kW / 224 PS).

Spy photographers have already snapped AMG variants and the GLB 35 will have a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder that produces 302 hp (225 kW / 306 PS) and 295 lb-ft (400 Nm) of torque. Later down the road, there will be a GLB 45 which has 382 hp (285 kW / 387 PS) in standard form and 415 hp (310 kW / 421 PS) in S guise.
