DEEP-WATER PORT
The Missouri-based company that owns the former Brayton Point Power Station in Somerset has announced a new port operations and lease agreement for the property, which the company says will help attract additional tenants to the site.
PIER PRESSURE
The south portion of Fall River’s City Pier is likely closer to opening to the public than the rest of the 4.5-acre waterfront property. Representatives from the EPA and the state DEP met Tuesday at the City Pier with members of the Fall River Redevelopment Authority to discuss years of PCB contamination clean-up and development.
DAY OF PORTUGAL
This year’s Day of Portugal festivities will feature Azorean whaleboats sailing down the Taunton River, an after-hours party Friday night and new music acts. All events take place at the Gates of the City on Ponta Delgada Boulevard.
HIT AND RUN
The Fall River man who turned himself in after police identified him as the alleged perpetrator of a fatal hit-and-run crash in Westport last month was ordered held Tuesday on $50,000 cash bail.
ICE PROTEST
And one of four protesters who blocked an entrance to the Bristol County House of Correction in Dartmouth last year, was sentenced to 10 days in jail. Holly Landowne-Stein of Geneva, New York, was sentenced Tuesday in New Bedford District Court.
