Angadia man robbed of diamonds worth Rs 33 lakh, Rs 6 lakh in cash

Rajkot: An employee of an angadia firm was beaten up and robbed of 42 packets of diamonds worth Rs 33 lakh, along with Rs 6 lakh in cash near Gadhada in Botad district on Wednesday morning. Police said victim Rakesh Gohel (49), was waylaid by seven unidentified robbers who had arrived in a car without registration number and a bike.
“The car in which five robbers were travelling rammed into Gohel’s motorcycle from the rear side. When Gohel fell down, four robbers alighted from the car and thrashed him with kicks, punches and also beat him up with a bat. They also snatched the bag containing the diamond packets and the cash,” said an official from Gadhada police station. tnn
