The CEO of an Australian brewery company has quit after he a homophobic meme suggesting non-alcoholic beer was 'gay lemonade' was uploaded to the company's Facebook account.
Nick Warming confirmed he had resigned effective immediately on Wednesday after the meme was posted on the Southern Bay Brewery's Facebook page.
The backlash was fierce and fast with the Victorian company removing the post on Monday night within an hour.

'The post in no way reflected the thoughts of staff of the Southern Bay Brewing Co. and they should not be held accountable for my actions. Please accept my sincere apologies,' Mr Warming added to his previous apology according to the Herald Sun.
The post read: 'Non-alcoholic beer - you mean gay lemonade?'
Social media users flooded the Facebook page, calling the brewery a 'disgrace' for the homophobic image.

Southern Bay Brewery, in Victoria, posted the 'beer meme' on Monday night but within an hour it was forced to remove the post
'Hey wow, your social media just dropped below the quality of your beer! Congrats. Now delete this rancid post,' one woman said.
'Well this wasn't one of your better business decisions,' another said.
The now former CEO Mr Warming quickly apologised on the company's behalf.
'This was posted without any thought whatsoever and no offence was intended. I apologise unreservedly,' the post read.
'We realise this is not good enough and we should not have posted the homophobic beer meme. It will not happen again.
'It was a gross error and mistake and we would appreciate it if people were kind enough to forgive us.'
However, the apology has been labelled 'p*** weak' by some users who claimed it seemed less than sincere.

'Can you please update and correct your apology, it wasn't a problem because it was a ''beer meme''. It was homophobic. Let's be really clear.'
'Don't minimise your actions, but own up to it or your response is meaningless,' one person said.
'What an absolute disgrace. You have tarnished its reputation and yet again we are reminded that this bulls**t still exists,' another said.
