Hoffmann's alleged shooting spree comes after a 24-year criminal history 'peppered with violence'.

His history goes back to 1995 when he knocked out fisherman Stephen Kwok with a single punch during a game of pool.

Justice David Angel in 1997 jailed him for two years, suspended after time served and warned such attacks 'may even turn out to be a lethal blow'.
