THANE: A senior transport official, Asmita Dighavkar (51), died after she reportedly slipped and fell on her face in the bathroom, causing severe blood loss in her highrise home at Rodas complex,
Patlipada, early on Tuesday. The deputy RTO at
Andheri is the wife of Pratap Dighavkar, special inspector general of police, who was in another room when the incident occurred.
"Dighavkar had gone to another room as his wife insisted on watching TV for more time. Probably at night, or pre-dawn hours, she fell there. In the morning, when he called for her and came looking, he realised that she was in the washroom and wasn't responding. He broke open the door as it was locked from inside and was shocked to see her lying in a pool of blood. He immediately took her to a private hospital nearby but doctors declared her dead on arrival," said inspector Pradeep Ugale, Kasarvadavli police.
