Mute and deaf man hangs self

Nagpur: A 23-year-old mute and deaf man hanged himself on the door of a lift on the terrace of his building at Nandanvan on Tuesday. The deceased, Akshay Deshmukh, a private sector employee, was found hanging by his brother Kunal.
Police have recovered a note from Akshay’s person. However, senior PI Vinayak Chavhan claimed that no conclusion can be drawn from the contents of the letter. “We will verify the letter and the writing,” said Chavhan.
According to police, Akshay was mute and deaf. His father had died in an accident near Buti Bori two years ago, while his mother was also injured in the accident.
It is learnt, Akshay, a nephew of MLA Krishna Khopde, had joined his company about six months back and was tensed for last some days.
On Tuesday, after returning home from work Akshay went to the terrace without informing anyone. Late in the night, Kunal started searching for Akshay. After discovering his body on the terrace, Kunal called up his relatives and police.

Nandanvan police sent the body to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) after completing panchnama.
On Wednesday, post-mortem was conducted on Akshay at GMCH. The last rites were performed at Gangabai Ghat.
