Bedfordshire Residents Invited to Find Out More About Railway Upgrade and Road Closure

The bridge needs to be demolished and reconstructed at a higher height to provide a safe distance for the overhead line equipment passing beneath, enabling the line between Bedford, Kettering and Corby to be electrified.

To allow this work to take place safely, the road will fully close to vehicles later this month and a clearly sign-posted diversionary route will be in place. There will also be improvements to Bedford station and a reduction in car parking there during the work.

Residents and motorists are invited to find out more about the scheme at a public information event on Tuesday, 11 June between 15:00 and 19:00 at The Bedford Centre Hotel, 2 St Mary’s Street, Bedford.

 

Workers from Network Rail, Govia Thameslink Railway and Stagecoach will be on hand to answer any queries.
