CHANDIGARH: The Chandigarh district court on Tuesday convicted an 18-year-old youth for sodomizing an 11-year-old boy. The court of additional district and sessions judge will pronounce the quantum of sentence on June 6.
The case dates back to February 17, 2018 when Chandigarh Police booked the accused under Section 377 (Unnatural offences — whoever voluntarily has carnal inter-course against the order of nature with any man, woman or animal), 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation), 363 (Punishment for kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Section 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. The complaint was lodged by the boy’s brother-inlaw, who alleged that the 18-year-old youth committed the crime. The case was registered in the presence of a supervisor of the women and child helpline at a police station.
Afterwards, medical examination of the child was carried at Government Medical College and Hospital, Sector 32. The next day, the accused was arrested and was produced in the court.
Following arguments in the case, the court held him guilty.
