Joins us with details, luna.
Exciting news for pv's senior outfielder--colin barber-- who was picked up by the houston astros in the 2019 mlb draft.
Barber was selected in the fourth round as the number 136th overall pick.
He was originally signed to play at the university of oregon-- before the season started.
Barber lead pv's baseball team to their first d-2 northern section championship this year for the first time since 2010.
Huge congrats to colin.
And another pv viking is making some noise... 'noah norton' has qualified for the u.s. open.
Here's norton competing in the qualifier at the 'butte creek country club' back on may 1st.
He then advanced to the sectional qualifier where he tied for first -- and now has the opportunity to be among the pros.
Here was the former pleasant valley graduate after he shot '4 under' at the local qaulifer.
I mean you have to play good, theres pros here, theres alot of good golfers who come, you gotta put up a solid round at the next stage, i mean its the us open, its one of the biggest stages in golf if not the biggest.
He'll be competing as an amateur at the u.s. open --which tees off june 13th -- in pebble beach.
As their seasons have come to close... local high school softball and baseball players have earned all- league honors.
The selections were picked by coaches and staffs across 7 different leagues.
Most valuable players as well as coaches were also recognized.
A handful of those players are coming from pleasant valley and chico high.
It feels nice and last year i didn't play at all so this year i just went out there and tried to have the most fun i could have and go all league so that's nice mean this team got me where i am today so it's awesome we had a great season is always awesome i'm only a junior so is kind of like a great start for next season to kind of compare myself to next year it's pretty cool to be selected as all league i think it's a really big accomplishment and it's kind of getting me ready for college to so i'm really excited going in with this kind of confidence boost the 'all-northern section' teams have just been announced as well.
Avery croxall of east nicolaus-- won softball mvp and pv's colin barber won mvp for baseball.
Head to action news now for a full line up of those rockstar players.
I spoke to colin barber today on whether he'll go pro -- or to go college -- he said he's still weighing out his options -- and just enjoying the moment for right now.
