Nagpur: The first ever
MHT-CET results under the percentile system were declared on Tuesday with local lad Vedant Saboo becoming the probable Vidarbha topper with a 99.99 percentile score.
MHT-CET is the entrance exam conducted by state government and is the gateway for admissions to four-year undergraduate courses in engineering and technology, pharmacy and 5-year full-time undergraduate degree course in pharmacy.
Siddesh Agrawal (99.98 percentile) from Amravati is the second probable topper from Vidarbha followed by Rahul Pathak (99.95 percentile). Both Saboo and Pathak are from Nagpur and prepared at ICAD for the tough MHT-CET papers.
Saboo said, “I was expecting my score to be high but did not expect that I would be the topper. I was confident about physics and knew I had fared exceptionally well in that subject. However, chemistry was tough for me. I am hoping to get into IIT (through JEE) and pursue either electrical engineering or computer science.”
Siddesh said, “I wasn’t expecting to be amongst the toppers and it has come as a pleasant surprise. I was very confident in maths since it is one of my strengths but chemistry exam did not go well. I am waiting for the JEE Advanced exam result and hope to make it to a good IIT campus where I would pursue mechanical engineering.”
Rahul said, “I knew I had done extraordinarily in the exam and was expecting a high score. In fact, I had completed my maths paper one hour before the submission time.”
For candidates seeking admission to first year engineering and technology degree courses, it was mandatory to appear for physics, chemistry and mathematics. For candidates seeking admission to first year pharmacy/ Pharm D degree course, it was mandatory that the candidate must appear for physics, chemistry as well as mathematics and/or biology.
