HYDERABAD: The defeat of
Kavitha, daughter of Telangana chief minister and TRS supremo
K Chandrasekhar Rao, in the Nizamabad Lok Sabha constituency came as a big shock for TRS party cadres in entire Telangana state.
Now, the voters have given another big shock to Kavitha and CM KCR in the local body election results. While TRS proved its grip in these elections, the party candidate lost in Kavitha's native village
Potangal in Navepet Mandal. BJP candidate Raju won this seat with 90 votes. An independent candidate won from KCR's adopted village
chinna mulkalur in Karimnagar district.
A Congress candidate won in KCR's mother-in-law's village Kodurupaka in Siricilla district's Boyenapalli Mandal. Congress candidate Balagauni Gauthami defeated TRS candidate Rajitha in MPTC election.
Polling for 534 Zilla Parishad Territorial constituencies (ZPTC) and 5,659 Mandal Parishad Territorial constituencies (MPTCs) in 31 districts was held in May while counting of votes was held on Tuesday. The ruling Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) has bagged majority seats in local body elections.
