HYDERABAD: A 49-year-old businessman who was travelling with his family from Srikalahasti to Toopran village died while three others were injured in a road accident at
Outer Ring Road under
Ghatkesar police limit on Tuesday. The victim's wife, daughter and the driver sustained injuries in the mishap.
The deceased, Devatha Ramesh, a resident of Toopran village of Medak district, was travelling with his wife Swathi and daughter Siri towards their village from Srikalahasti town in Chittoor. His driver, Jodu Swamy, was driving the Maruthi Suzuki car, while the deceased was sitting on the front seat. The family started the journey on Monday evening.
According to police, the accident occurred at around 6am when they reached near the Ghatkesar Toll Gate on Tuesday.
"A lorry travelling in front of them applied sudden brakes to turn right. Swamy lost control of the vehicle and the car dashed into the lorry from behind," said Ghatkesar inspector Raghuveer Reddy. The car's left side was highly impacted as the driver turned it when he lost control.
Ramesh who was sitting on the front seat took the direct impact of the hit and died on the spot following multiple injuries. Swamy fractured his leg while Swathi and Siri who were at rear seat sustained mild injuries. Swathi and Siri were shifted to Vijaya Health Care Hospital, Secunderabad and Jodu Swamy was getting treatment at Raghavendra Srikara Hospitals in ECIL.
