CHENNAI: Each quilt has a story to tell. Do
quilts travel to various places to tell these stories? Yes, at least 18 award winning quilts from India Quilt Festival 2019 are ‘travelling’ across the country under the title, “Threads That Bind”.
The idea is to revive the textile art and to provide a common platform for
quilters in India.
Organised by the Quilt India Foundation, an exhibition of these quilts will be held at the Varija Art Gallery of
DakshinaChitra here from June 8 to 16.
Quilting is a free-flowing textile art of patch work, which uses varied fabrics in simple geometric shapes to create challenging patchwork patterns easily.
Two workshops on quilting is also organised on June 9 and 16 as part of the exhibition. The materials required for the workshop will be provided.
The participants will get to learn and create the patchwork on a canvas bag and can take them home.
The workshop fee is Rs 2,000 (inclusive of refreshments and materials).
