MUMBAI: Public broadcaster
Prasar Bharati added 17 new high-definition (HD) digital satellite new gathering (DSNG) vans, popularly known as outdoor broadcasting or
OB vans, to its fleet on Tuesday.
The new vans were delivered by Noida-based
Planetcast Media Services, a global leader in digital broadcast technologies, as part of their service agreement with Prasar Bharati.
The fleet was flagged off today by
Prakash Javadekar, Minister of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) at
Doordarshan Bhawan located at Mandi House in New Delhi.
The new HD DSNG vans will operate all over the country with homing stations in various states like Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Karnataka, Punjab, Rajasthan and more.
The present commission is for a period of three years with an extension caveat of another one year. Each high definition DSNG van is capable of handling multi-camera setup and provides seamless operations with automated hot switching.
The DSNG vans offer enhanced playout/editing features and are self-powered for 24x7 operations, which is very critical for continuous live coverage in remote and hostile environment.
“DSNG as a service has emerged as the most reliable mode of live news coverage in the most challenging circumstances. Planetcast has constantly innovated its DSNG services to uphold its relevance in the industry and the large scale service agreement of DSNG vans with Prasar Bharati testifies to the fact that DSNG vans are the first choice of broadcasters when it comes to reliable and quality live news coverage,” said Atul Kumar Gupta, Head of DSNG Services at Planetcast.
