PUNE: The
Sinhagad Road police on Monday night arrested a 43-year-old man on the charge of raping his 14-year-old stepdaughter following a complaint by his wife, a rape survivor herself.
On Tuesday, a city court remanded the man in police custody for a day.
The woman, 33, had in her FIR accused her husband of raping her daughter in their house on Saturday, sometime between 2pm and 2.30pm, when she had gone to
Ahmednagar to attend a wedding.
The police said the man is a tax consultant and takes assignments for some organizations in the city.
Sinhagad Road police senior inspector Duryodhan Pawar told TOI that the girl, her stepsister (6) and the man were in the house on Saturday. “The girl had gone for a bath, while her stepsister and the man were playing in the living room. After having a bath, she went to the bedroom”.
He said, “The man too entered the bedroom and committed the crime. On hearing some noise, the
younger girl entered the room and raised an alarm.”
Pawar said after the minor rape survivor contacted her mother, she rushed back home, took the girl to the police station and registered the complaint. The officer said the woman had agreed to marry the man eight years ago, as he promised to look after her daughter. The woman told the police that she too was raped 15 years ago.
